Hungry for city life...we took a weekend venture downtown for the Padres baseball game and an overnight stay at Hard Rock Hotel San Diego.
The evening staycation began with an early dinner at the Hardrock's own 207 Bar — steps away from the stadium and in the heart of the gaslamp quarter. BBQ chicken pizza came served in a box, chicken wings came warm and spicy, and a chopped salad came plentiful in fresh ingredients.
A glass of cold chardonnay and a cocktail while people watching eased us into the busy and bustling nature of the Friday evening streets — and did just the trick.
From there, we took a stroll to the Padre’s Party in the Park event — a Friday night pregame happy hour presented by Southwest Airlines.
There are a handful of these festive gatherings throughout the season, each with a rotating theme. WineFest featured local and regional wineries — a true San Diego sea of rosés, reds, and whites alongside live tunes.
After the game, an eclectic post-game snack of parmesan crisps, blue cheese, and rock candy awaited our arrival back at the hotel.
And in the morning, a vibrantly tasty brunch at Mary Jane's Cafe.
In the end, we soaked up the sounds, the crowds, and the bright lights. And after our musically and wine-inspired baseball stay, we returned home to our tiny beach cottage refreshed and rejuvenated (and ready for a warm swim and a sunset over the ocean).
The last Party in the Park event of the year will be held on Friday, September 28. The theme, BeerFest, features $5 beer specials from local and national breweries and live music.
And, if you’re planning a stay at any of the Hard Rock Hotels, our favorite thing to note is the Hard Rock Heals Foundation. It works to fund locally driven music programs all across the globe, providing grants and assistance to individuals whose goal is to help heal the world through music.
