Meet the Team

Nick grew up in an Italian American family heavily involved in the food, restaurant, and entertainment industries.

As a kid, he loved movies, books, and storytelling, and whether he watching cartoons while eating pancakes in the back of his dad’s Volkswagen bus, or learning the art of special effects, his love for film developed and blossomed over the course of his childhood.

After briefly studying art in college, he dropped out to pursue filmmaking in Los Angeles, working his way through productions including independent feature films, commercials, and web series work.

A multi-disciplinary and self-taught creative, he handles every part of video production – from cinematography and audio selection to the final edits. Today, he’s worked with production agencies and companies internationally as a filmmaker, editor, and producer, and has done work for clients including Dreamworks, Ducati, SAP, and more.

It's his deep fascination and passion for all elements of media that keep him forever enthralled by the art of storytelling.

Favorite part of production: “Hmmm….I’d have to really think about that…” (Hint: he’s still thinking)

Project highlight: Filming a generational chestnut farmer in the hills of Piedmont, Italy, to capture how he grew the products which were then utilized by a local chef.

Bay grew up amidst the rolling hills of an avocado farm in sunny California. Surrounded by nature with parents who encouraged creativity, her passion for reading, writing, cooking, and photography blossomed.

After high school, she ventured beyond her rural roots to the bustling streets San Francisco, where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English and creative writing while also studying photojournalism. During this time, she worked as a food writer and photographer for San Francisco Weekly and as writing and creative art therapist at UCSF Mount Zion.

Today, she’s worked as a writer and content director for companies around the world, including Patrón Tequila, Bob's Red Mill, Marriott International, Krug Champagne, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, and more.

It’s her background with words, her love of the visual arts, and her deep enthusiasm for people and storytelling that molds her role within comewecreate through every part of the production process.

Favorite part of production: pitching new ideas to companies she’s passionate about and working with publications on multimedia campaigns

Project highlight: Alongside Nick, co-directing a series of videos for Patrón Tequila that incorporated artisan bitters and greenhouse grown herbs to see how master mixologists utilized them to create something beautiful.

our story.

We met one night in the heart of winter in San Francisco.

Bundled up in beanies and scarves, over a dinner at Scoma's in Fisherman's Wharf, we discovered our mutual love for food, storytelling, writing, and the visual arts. It was love at first meal, we like to say.

With our shared passion for all of these things, we first launched comewecreate in 2013 as a boutique catering company, cooking our way through film sets, anniversary parties, birthday gatherings, and more. After receiving a write up in the LA Times, we landed cookbook deal for Living the Mediterranean Diet and began to focus more on food and beverage writing, photography, and styling (see more about our cookbook here.)

In 2015, we moved to Portland, Oregon, for its food and beverage scene and dove full-force into digital and print content strategy and multimedia production – writing, photographing, and and filming for local markets, restaurant chains, publications, and artisan brands. Eventually, we had a wild idea that we conceptualized over a bowl of mint chip ice cream which we eagerly pitched to Volkswagen.

To our surprise, they said yes, which led us to move out of our downtown city apartment to set forth on a nomadic 100-day, 15,000 mile campaign around America.

We spent over three months on the road during our culinary pilgrimage, telling the stories of hundreds of James Beard and Michelin-star award winning chefs, sommeliers, bakers, cheesemongers, cider makers, and beyond. Through the warmth and soul of the people we met along the way, and the incredible meals we shared, it remains to be one of the highlights of our lives thus far...and continues to propel us forward in the art of storytelling.

Today, we focus on video production and multimedia content – from initial creative concept to final deliverable – for the food, beverage, travel, and hospitality industries, though we often dabble in other industries, too. Above all, we are enthusiastic storytellers who find that life expands when we're out in the world with our cameras and notebooks.

We live and create between Portland, Oregon, and Woodstock, New York...but we’ll travel anywhere for a good story.
